Australia offers no shortage of appeal—sweeping natural landscapes, world-class beaches, and vibrant cities—but it also delivers when it comes to secluded, design-forward escapes in the country. 

For those drawn to a contemporary ranch-style retreat, there’s a standout example tucked into the Queensland countryside. Mount French Lodge unfolds across nearly 100 acres about an hour from southwest of Brisbane—or just 15 minutes by helicopter. The property comprises several detached buildings, including a main pavilion rich in natural materials and a contrasting industrial-inspired structure that’s all clean lines and minimalistic styling. The layout lends itself to flexibility, equally suited to multigenerational living or as a vacation getaway where you can host all your friends.

Across the buildings, there are 12 bedrooms and 12 full bathrooms, offering ample privacy for guests and extended family. The main building comprises a vast great room with a fireplace and sliding walls of glass, creating an easy indoor-outdoor flow. Mount French Lodge is on the market with Sandy Davies and Nicholas Miranda at Queensland Sotheby’s International Realty, and its price is currently upon request. According to records, however, it last sold in 2021 for about $2.6 million. 

Elsewhere in Australia, a spacious penthouse in nearby Brisbane hit the market at $20 million earlier this year atop a wellness-focused condo tower.
