A little over a year ago, Chris Evans listed his serene Hollywood Hills retreat high above Mulholland Drive for nearly $7 million. After failing to find a buyer, he is trying again with a price cut.

The actor is now seeking just under $6.4 million for the hillside spread, which he acquired for $3.5 million in 2013, just two years after he began his lucrative 11-arc foray as Captain America (a.k.a. Steve Rogers) in the latest Marvel films. Scott Moore of Christie’s International Real Estate Southern California holds the listing.

Built in the 1940s and since renovated, the split-level structure clad in beige stucco and stone is tucked away behind greenery-encased walls and security gates on a parcel spanning three-quarters of an acre. In addition to four bedrooms and six bathrooms, the roughly 4,600 square feet of interiors designed by Stewart-Gulrajani showcase rustic hardwood floors and soaring exposed-beam ceilings. Large windows frame picturesque canyon and mountain views.

A wide walkway leads to the front entrance, which opens into an elegant living room wrapped in large windows. The open floor plan meanders its way to a formal dining room with a wet bar and a spacious family room with floor-to-ceiling glass doors spilling out to an alfresco dining terrace. A sky-lit kitchen is outfitted with Bianca marble countertops and a 60-inch Wolf range beneath a custom 10-foot hood.

Occupying its own wing, the primary suite flaunts a private ipe wood deck and a large dressing room, along with a limestone and Calacatta marble bath sporting radiant-heated floors, a freestanding oval soaking tub, and a steam shower. A one-bedroom guesthouse, meanwhile, comes with a living and dining area, plus a full kitchen. However, a gym where Evans trained for his superhero roles has since been removed.

An expanded backyard, which has been touted as an “entertainer’s paradise,” features vineyard-inspired gardens shaded by mature coral trees, a freeform pool and spillover spa, a fire pit lounge, and a trellised dining area. There’s also a perch overlooking those sweeping vistas of Mulholland canyon and the Santa Monica Mountains.

When he first put the place up for sale, Evans said he decided to part with it because he was spending more time with family on the East Coast. The 44-year-old actor was born and raised near Boston, where he began his career in school productions and community theater in the Massachusetts community of Sudbury. One of the top-grossing Hollywood actors of all time, People magazine’s 2022 “Sexiest Man Alive” most recently starred in the rom-com Materialists and is currently set to return to his Marvel roots in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.
