Josh Brolin is parting ways with his charming retreat on the northern outskirts of Atlanta after six years of ownership, marking an end to the Oscar-nominated actor’s time using the “Hollywood of the South” as a filming base for major projects like the box-office hit Weapons.

The Dune and Avengers star has put a nearly $5 million price tag on the traditional-style spread he and his wife, Kathryn, picked up in 2020 for $3.25 million and recently rented for $35,000 per month. Built in 2003 and reimagined with global-inspired interiors by Los Angeles design studio Pierce & Ward during their ownership, the home is listed with Jacob Bean of Studio Housing Atlanta.

Set on a gated parcel spanning 1.5 acres in the suburban enclave of Sandy Springs, the serene estate offers a total of seven bedrooms and 11 bathrooms in roughly 7,700 square feet filled to the brim with memories of the couple’s travels—”a little Atlanta there, a little Paris there, a little Ireland and New York and maybe even the countryside of Pennsylvania,” he told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

A circular driveway empties at a columned porch with dormer windows above, with the main five-bedroom, eight-bath mansion introduced by a large entry foyer that flows through wide arched doorways to a formal dining room and a mauve-hued study. Further back, a spacious kitchen with a massive L-shaped island adjoins a breakfast nook and a vaulted family room, a double-height living room sports a stone fireplace, and a workstation sits beside a screened rotunda with a grilling station.

A romantic primary suite in its own wing has a fireside lounge area, dual dressing rooms, and a roomy bath spotlighted by a built-in soaking tub beneath a curving stained-glass window. Three en-suite bedrooms can be found upstairs, while a finished basement holds another bedroom with its own bath, as well as a living area, wet bar, tiered screening room, and gym with a sauna and cold plunge.

In addition to a detached two-story guesthouse with a pair of fully equipped living spaces, the grounds also host a heated gunite swimming pool with a spillover spa, waterfalls, and a jumping rock, along with a secluded green space shaded by a canopy of trees. There’s also an attached three-car garage.

Brolin, the son of Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning actor, producer, and director James Brolin, still owns California properties in Montecito and Malibu. He told the AJC that he placed the Atlanta property on the market because his acting work has increasingly taken him out West.

“We envy anybody who gets to take advantage of this little piece of everywhere that fed us so well while we were there,” he added.
