In recent weeks, the dominant sports-spirits collab conversation has centered around the World Cup, with brands like Clase Azul, Don Julio, and Buchanan’s all releasing commemorative bottles to celebrate this event. But today Heaven Hill’s core whiskey brand, Elijah Craig, made it clear that golf is still very much in the picture with the release of the new 2026 PGA Championship Commemorative Edition Small Batch Bourbon, a higher proof version of the core expression that comes from a small batch of barrels.
Elijah Craig is one of Heaven Hill’s most popular bourbon and rye whiskey brands, and includes releases like Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon and Rye, Small Batch Bourbon, Straight Rye, Toasted Barrel, and the superb new 15 Year Old Single Barrel. In 2023, the PGA announced a multi-year partnership with the brand, making it the “Official Bourbon” and whiskey supplier of the PGA of America, PGA Championship, KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, and official partner of the PGA National Club Championship. And last year, Elijah Craig also partnered with the Ryder Cup to release a limited-edition bourbon finished with applewood and sugar maple staves.
And this isn’t just some commemorative bottle—there are some major differences between this bourbon and regular Elijah Craig. According to the distillery, it comes from “a small batch of barrels” pulled from Heaven Hill’s N and S rickhouses (exactly how small is not clear), and it’s bottled at 108 proof instead of 94 proof, which is significantly higher. That last detail also stands out given that last year’s release was bottled at 94 proof as well. According to the distillery, this new bourbon is meant to commemorate the championship’s 108th edition and its return to the Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Penn. from May 14–17. We were able to try an early sample of this release, and while it’s not as strong as the barrel-proof version of the bourbon, it’s still got a nice amount of heat as you sip, along with notes of vanilla, cinnamon, brown sugar, caramel apple, flamed orange peel, and dark chocolate.
Elijah Craig Small Batch 2026 PGA Championship Commemorative Edition is available starting today in limited numbers at retailers around the country (SRP $37), and you can find the entire lineup at websites like ReserveBar now.
