Alia’s New 148-Foot Custom Superyacht Is a Low-Slung Stunner

Alia’s latest custom superyacht was designed to meet its owner’s every wish.

The 148-foot Genie Blu was built for a “visionary” with a very distinctive brief, according to the Turkish shipyard. They decided to buck marine conventions; the objective was not to maximize gross tonnage as is typical with many contemporary yachts, but rather to focus on design and lifestyle.

Genie Blu turns traditional ideas of yacht design on their head,” Alia president Gökhan Çelik said in a statement. “Rather than maximizing interior volume for its own sake, this project is about purity, proportion and the owner’s experience of the sea.”

Alia’s in-house design office worked closely with Italy’s Luca Dini Design & Architecture on the interior and exterior. The yacht cuts a striking silhouette, with clean, architectural lines and a long, low superstructure. That minimalist design extends to the interior, with remarkably uncluttered living quarters.

“The project is based on subtraction rather than addition,” adds designer Luca Dini. “We removed barriers, reduced unnecessary volume and opened the yacht wherever possible.”

Drop-down side wings and floor-to-ceiling glass seamlessly connect the indoors and out. The main salon is a prime example of the natural flow throughout, with an open-plan layout and expansive windows that together create a light, airy feel within. The decor is described as calm and contemporary by the yard, with a neutral palette and simple furnishings that allow the ocean surroundings to take focus.

The exterior decks echo that sense of flow. To the aft lies a cockpit with raised seating and cascading steps that lead down to a swim platform offering direct access to the sea. Forward, a generous lounge area and open foredeck offer further spaces for al fresco entertaining or relaxation in the breeze. Up top, meanwhile, a private sun pad area is built into the superstructure.

It appears Genie Blu was delivered to Italian entrepreneur Gianluca Vacchi, the heir to the Industria Macchine Automatiche (IMA) Group. The multimillionaire shared a video of the yacht on Instagram earlier this week. “Yesterday was a special day for our family,” he wrote in the caption. “Welcome, Genie Blu. May God bless this vessel and whoever will navigate on it.”
