Wild Cherry Just Opened Inside A24’s Cherry Lane Theatre in NYC

The chefs behind beloved New York restaurants Frenchette, Le Rock, and Le Veau d’Or are bringing a little bit of cinema to their newest locale.

Riad Nasr and Lee Hanson have teamed up with the folks at A24 film studio to unveil Wild Cherry, a West Village restaurant that’s nestled inside the recently reopened Cherry Lane Theatre.

The space itself evokes a movie-star cool, with red-checkered floors, forest-green booths, and an intimate horseshoe-shaped cocktail bar that is reminiscent of an old-school supper club you’d see in Mad Men. You can choose to pop in before your flick begins; or perhaps you’ll stop by after the credits are done rolling for a post-film snack and cocktail. Though make sure you try to snag a res: Wild Cherry offers up just 12 tables and 12 seats at the bar (with limited reservations and room for walk-ins).

The menu here includes a raw bar filled with oysters, seafood cocktail with tomato avocado, Bangs Island mussels with green curry, and tuna crudo, as well as hors d’oeuvres like steak tartare and frog legs Kiev. For dinner (or “supper,” as the folks at Wild Cherry call it), opt for a cheeseburger, a lobster club, or Kielbasa and kraut, among other dishes. A sherry cherry highball, a Bee’s Knees, and a coffee fizz—with vodka, coffee bean, tonka cream, Aperol, and egg white—are just a few of the tipples you can indulge in. And though there is wine on the menu, if you’d like to bring your own bottle along, you can carry in one 750mL bottle per two patrons, priced from $100 via the restaurant’s corkage policy.

Nasr and Hanson, as we mentioned, make quite the dynamic duo in the kitchen. After turning Balthazar and Minetta Tavern into legendary New York haunts the pair went out on their own and opened hit restaurants up and down Manhattan together. They’ve found that their styles in the kitchen are a fantastic match. “It’s just complementary. There’s not going to be any ego when we’re working on things,” Nasr told Robb Report in a previous interview. “There’s pride, but that’s not about ownership, it’s about doing something together.”

To check out Wild Cherry for yourself, head on over to 38 Commerce Street Tuesday through Sunday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
