Run Errands Like You’re on an Island Vacation
The art of slowing down, dressing comfortably, and finding little moments of luxury in your everyday routine.

Have you ever noticed how differently you move when you’re on an island vacation?
You wake up without rushing. You slip into something light and comfortable. You take your time enjoying your morning coffee, admire the palm trees, and somehow, even a quick trip to the local market feels like an experience.
Now imagine bringing that same feeling into your everyday life.
Who says you have to wait until your next Caribbean getaway to enjoy the lifestyle?
I’ve always believed that resort living is more than a destination. It’s a feeling, a mindset, and a beautiful way of approaching the ordinary.
And yes, that includes running errands.

Dress Like You’re Heading Somewhere Beautiful
There’s something effortless about island style.
A crisp white linen shirt, relaxed trousers, comfortable sandals, oversized sunglasses, and a beautiful woven tote. Nothing complicated. Nothing overly styled.
Just easy, understated elegance.
Whether I’m heading to the grocery store, browsing a vintage shop, or stopping for a coffee, I love the idea of dressing in a way that makes an ordinary afternoon feel like a little getaway.
You don’t need an elaborate outfit to feel put together.
Sometimes, simplicity is the luxury.
Make the Journey Part of the Experience
One thing I appreciate about island life is the pace.
You’re not necessarily trying to get everywhere in a hurry. You notice the scenery, the architecture, the flowers, the ocean breeze, and the little cafés tucked along the streets.
Why not bring that same awareness into your routine?
Take the scenic route when time allows. Roll down the windows. Enjoy the sunshine. Stop somewhere beautiful for a few minutes.
Living in South Florida, I’m constantly reminded that there are little pieces of paradise all around us.
And even if you don’t live near the coast, you can create that vacation feeling wherever you are.
Turn Your Errands Into Little Experiences
Instead of looking at your errands as a checklist of things you have to get done, think of them as opportunities to enjoy your day.
Visit the local farmers market instead of rushing through a crowded store. Pick up fresh flowers. Browse a small boutique. Discover a new coffee shop or take a moment to sit outdoors.
I especially love finding vintage treasures and unique pieces that remind me of the Caribbean—woven textures, beautiful ceramics, natural materials, and objects with a little history.
There’s something special about finding beauty in places you weren’t necessarily looking for it.
You never know what you might discover when you’re not rushing.
Bring a Little Island Living Home
The best part about a vacation is often how you feel when you return to your room.
Relaxed. Refreshed. Comfortable.
I believe our homes should offer that same experience.
After a day of running errands, come home, open the curtains, light a beautiful candle, put your fresh flowers in a vase, and enjoy a cool drink.
You don’t need an oceanfront villa to create a peaceful atmosphere.
A beautiful scent, soft textures, natural light, and a little intention can make your home feel like your favorite boutique resort.
It’s the philosophy behind everything I love about home and lifestyle: Make home the ultimate staycation.
The Luxury of Not Rushing
Perhaps the most beautiful part of island-inspired living has nothing to do with what you’re wearing, where you’re shopping, or how much you’re spending.
It’s giving yourself permission to enjoy the life you’re already living.
Of course, we all have responsibilities, appointments, families, businesses, and endless things to accomplish.
But somewhere between the grocery store, the post office, and picking up something for dinner, there’s an opportunity to enjoy the moment.
You can be productive without making every moment feel hurried.
You can make everyday routines feel beautiful without spending a fortune.
And you can bring a little vacation energy into an ordinary Thursday afternoon.
So the next time you’re heading out to run errands, put on your favorite linen outfit, grab your sunglasses, and take your time when you can.
Life doesn’t have to be a vacation to feel like one.
Until next time,
