The Fall 2025 edition of the Old Fitzgerald Bottled-in-Bond Decanter Series has finally arrived, and just in the nick of time considering that winter is only about a week away. This is one of Heaven Hill’s most collectible whiskeys, released twice a year in the fall and spring, and we have the details to share about the latest expression.

Old Fitzgerald is a wheated bourbon brand that was acquired by Kentucky distillery Heaven Hill back in 1999, but the Old Fitzgerald brand name actually dates back to the 1800s. About 100 years later, the whiskey was being produced at the legendary Stitzel-Weller distillery, where Pappy Van Winkle himself started using wheat instead of rye as the flavoring grain in the mashbill to give the whiskey a softer, sweeter flavor profile. Heaven Hill continued that tradition, making the bourbon from a mashbill of 68 percent corn, 20 percent wheat, and 12 percent malted barley, the same that’s used for its other wheated bourbons like Larceny.

The Fall 2025 edition is the 16th release in the Decanter Series, which as indicated by the name is bottled-in-bond—meaning it’s at least four years old, exactly 100 proof, and the product of one distillery and one distillation season. This new whiskey is 11 years old, which is obviously much older than the minimum age required to be considered bottled-in-bond, but that puts it right in the mid-range of age for the series. “Every release of the Old Fitzgerald Bottled-in-Bond Decanter Series reflects our dedication to tradition and meticulous craft,” said Conor O’Driscoll, Heaven Hill master distiller, in a statement. “The 11-year-old Fall 2025 edition carries a richness and poise that exemplify what this series stands for and why the bottled-in-bond legacy remains so important to Heaven Hill.”

We did not get a sample to try yet, but the official tasting notes describe an amber-colored whiskey with aromas of “bourbon sweetness” on the nose, along with leather, oak, and warm baking spices. That is followed by notes of honey, butterscotch, plums, peaches, and figs on the palate, and dark fruit and milk chocolate fading out on the finish. The suggested retail price for the Fall 2025 edition of the Old Fitzgerald Bottled-in-Bond Decanter Series is $160, but based on the prices that previous editions are going for you’ll be lucky to find it for that cheap. If you’re willing to spend a few hundred bucks, however, you will not be disappointed, and you can also find the relatively new 7 Year Bottled in Bond version available at websites like Total Wine for Less than $100.
