Explora Journeys Just Unveiled Its New Explora III Cruise Ship

Explora Journeys’s latest floating hotel is hitting the seas sooner than you think.

The oceanic travel company just unveiled its new Explora III vessel, joining the brand’s Explora I and II on luxe adventures on the high seas worldwide. The new cruise liner will raise its anchor this upcoming July, earlier than expected, as it explores the Med on an exclusive Explora itinerary.

Explora III offers up even more luxe comfort on the water than its siblings. (It’s also the first in the fleet to be powered by liquid natural gas, a.k.a. LNG, which can reduce its emissions by up to 80 percent). The new vessel is home to 463 suites, with 109 Penthouses and 39 Ocean Residences onboard that give you plenty of space to unwind. Each accommodation includes a private balcony, expansive floor-to-ceiling windows, and neutral hues abound.

For the ultimate luxurious stay, though, head to the Owner’s Residences; you’ll find two aboard here, one more Explora Journeys’s previous vessels, than span a whopping 3,014 square feet with a 1,345-square-foot terrace. The crème de la crème is the Owner’s Residence on Deck 7, which was brought to life by famed designer Patricia Urquiola. The Spanish creative added plenty of fun throughout the space, complete with a textured wall, leather elements, and cozy linens. The Deck 7 spot also has its own steam room, and you can head outdoors to a private whirlpool, daybeds, and more spots to unwind.

Outside your room, you’ll be greeted by a lobby full of Perlato di Sicilia and Sahara Noir marbles and a dazzling, asymmetrical Venini chandelier that evokes the spray of the ocean. Elsewhere, you can choose to hop into one of three outdoor pools, one of which is in the indoor-outdoor Conservatory Bar, with a nearly 50-foot swimming pool ready for you to take a dip. You can also lounge on the deck in one of 60 private cabanas up for grabs. For even more Zen, Explora III’s spa is home to many a treatment, including a Sound Pod that reduces stress via a—you guessed it—sound frequencies. Or for something more active, head to the outdoor fitness area or the pickleball court.

When you’re ready to grab a bite, Explora III has seven restaurant and 12 bars and lounges onboard. That includes some spots that have appeared on previous Explora vessels, but there are three newcomers, too: The Shore Club on 11, for pool-side noshing; the Chef’s Table, where live preparation is the star; and the Cellar, which lets you sip rare wine vintages. There’s also a dedicated malt whisky bar, as well as new cigar lounge. And during a post-meal stroll, you can stop by the exclusive Chopard boutique, marking the brand’s debut on the high seas.

“Explora II represents a natural yet powerful evolution of our vision for ocean travel,” Anna Nash, president of Explora Journeys, said in a press statement. “She has been conceived as a destination in her own right—a luxury floating hotel that offers even greater space, comfort and choice of amenities, while welcoming the same carefully balanced number of guests as Explora I and Explora II.”

And you can take it all in on Explora Journey’s one-time Mediterranean Prelude Journey (from $3,710 per passenger). From July 24 to the 26 this summer, you can be among the first to hop aboard the new vessel, which will cruise from Genoa and explore the French and Italian Rivieras before sailing into Civitavecchia. From there, Explora III will set off to Barcelona, Lisbon, the U.K.’s Southampton, and more. Perhaps you, too, may be hitting the seas on your next adventure sooner than you think.
