BenQ is here to help give your home theater setup a much-needed boost just in time for Oscar season.

The company has just launched its latest 4K projector, the W5850, in the U.S. The commercial-grade model features a shorter throw than many of its peers, allow it to turn even smaller rooms into your own personal cinema.

The W5850 is aimed at those in the market for a shortish-throw projector, but who also don’t want to make sacrifices. It’s a full-size device measuring 20.6 inches by 5.7 inches by 15.4 inches and weighing in at 10.5 pounds. With that footprint, it’s the sort of device that can serve as the heart of even the most robust home theater system.

What separates BenQ’s from so many 4K models is its 16-element lens. That, as New Atlas points out, is two elements less than its predecessor, the W5800, and gives it an excellent 1.0 to 1.6 throw ratio. That the device can project a 180-inch (or 15-foot) image on a wall its positioned just 13 feet away from, allowing it to be used in a medium-sized room. The W5800, on the other hand, needed 20 feet to do the same thing. It also features optical zoom and four-way lens shift to make sure everything looks just right no matter where it is positioned in a room.

There’s more to the projector than just its lens, though. Its laser light source also puts out 2,600 ANSI lumens, which is more than powerful enough as long as you don’t have overhead lights on. The picture will also be vibrant and colorful thanks to a 3,000,000:1 dynamic contrast and Delta E Color accuracy. BenQ’s HDR-Pro technology also means the device supported HDR10+ content.

The W5850 comes equipped with a wide array of ports, including HDMI 2.1, USB-A, SPDIF, and eARC, the last of which allows 7.1 channel and Dolby Atmos audio pass through. This means you can connect the projector to Blu-ray players, streaming devices, gaming consoles, and, most importantly of all, a high-end sound system.

The W5850 is available to order now, though the Ben Q website. The projector is priced at $6,999, which is $2,000 more than the W5800 and its 14-element lens.
