An Alleged Car Thief Keeps Stealing Dodge Hellcats

All car buffs have a type—including one accused of resorting to illicit means to add to his collection.

An Illinois man is facing multiple felony charges tied to the alleged theft last year of a 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Demon 170 from a Wisconsin dealership, according to Road & Track. This isn’t the first time the man has been accused of having tried to make off with a high-performance Dodge without paying, either. He is also said to have tried to steal a Durango Hellcat in 2024, too.

Myqwon Greer, of Rockford, Ill., is accused of having broken into Frank Boucher Chrysler Dodge Jeep in Janesville, Wisc., early last April, according to The Gazette newspaper. Once inside the building, Greer is said to have located the key fob for a Ford Explorer and then used the SUV to drive through the front window of the dealership. He then drove the Demon 170 out of the building and off the premises. In addition to the muscle car, which the complaint valued at $250,000, he is accused of having stolen 20 to 30 Coach purses that were being used for a promotion and valued at $200 to $300 each, along with a power drill.

During the investigation of the break-in, authorities were able to connect Greer to similar incidents, according to the local ABC station, WTVO. In October of 2024, roughly six months before the theft of the Demon 170, Greer is accused of trying to steal a Durango Hellcat from a dealership in Deloit, Wisc., which is about 15 miles south of Janesville. The report does not include further details about the SUV, but we imagine it wasn’t as coveted as the “Last Call” edition of the gas-powered muscle car, which features a 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi V-8 that makes 1,025 hp and can run the quarter-mile in under nine seconds.

Greer was booked into the Winnebago County Jail in Illinois last week. He is facing felony charges for burglary, criminal damage to property, and theft of a car valued at $250,000. He also faces charges for possession of a stolen vehicle, theft, and criminal damage to property related to the attempted theft of the Durango Hellcat.
