Penske Media Corporation Acquires Vox Media

The Penske Media Corporation (PMC) family is growing.

On Thursday, Robb Report’s parent company announced the acquisition of Vox Media. As a result of the deal, PMC has acquired Vox’s leading brands, creating a combined portfolio that consists of over 25 titles and cements PMC’s position as the world’s largest digital media publisher.

PMC has formed a new subsidiary, called PMX, that will combine its existing publishing portfolio, which, in addition to Robb Report, includes Variety, Rolling Stone, WWD, ARTNews, and SHE Media, with the newly acquired brands: Eater, The Verge, SB Nation, POPSUGAR, The Dodo, Punch, and Thrillist.

Overseeing the new division will be Ryan Pauley, who most recently served as the president of Vox Media. PMX’s president has over 15 years of experience across editorial, commercial, and operational leadership. Pauley will report to the chairman and CEO of PMC, Jay Penske, and its president, Craig Perreault. The PMX leadership team will be rounded out by Tom Finn, PMC’s executive vice president of strategy and operations, and Ken DelAlcazar, PMC’s executive vice president of finance, who will serve as the company’s chief operating officer and chief financial officer, respectively, in addition to their current duties.

“I am very proud to welcome this tremendous team and leading brands to Penske Media,” Penske said in a statement. “We have long admired these unique brands and companies, and I’m thrilled to welcome Ryan Pauley to PMC. Ryan is a top executive who has demonstrated a clear ability to build leading technology and evolve media businesses, making him exceptionally well-positioned to lead PMX’s next chapter of growth.”

“I’m honored to step into this role and help lead what I believe is media’s strongest portfolio of brands, ones that have not only shaped history but continue to shape culture every day,” Pauley said in a statement. “Across music, entertainment, food, sports, fashion, beauty, technology and art, this portfolio influences and creates culture with best-in-class brands, extraordinary authority, and deeply engaged audiences and communities.”

Since its founding in 2003, PMC has been a leading global media company. The company, which is headquartered in New York and Los Angeles, also owns several cultural events like the Golden Globes, SXSW, and the ATX Television Festival. The acquisition of Vox Media increases PMC’s reach to hundreds of millions of people per month and hundreds of live events per year.
