Along Portugal’s southern Algarve coast, Quinta do Lago has settled into its role as one of Europe’s go-to second-home markets for international buyers. It’s polished but not flashy, with a mix of golf, beach, and low-key privacy that keeps people coming back. Over the years, names like Cristiano Ronaldo, Rory McIlroy, and Madonna have all spent time here, but the bigger story lately has been demand—especially from Americans—pushing prices up while available homes get harder to come by.
The appeal is pretty straightforward. You’re about 20 minutes from Faro Airport, there’s solid flight access to the U.S., and everything you need is within the gates—golf courses, restaurants, tennis, padel, even trails and water access inside the protected Ria Formosa Natural Park. It functions more like a self-contained resort town than a typical neighborhood, which is part of why owners tend to stay put.

New builds are still coming online, often replacing older houses on some of the best plots. One of the latest is a just-completed villa by architect Jutta Hoehn, set along the South Course with open views over the lake. Altogether, Casa Bella has seven bedrooms and sits on roughly half an acre of land, with additional adopted space that gives it a bit more separation from neighbors. From the garden, the sightlines run straight across the water and fairways, with mature pines framing the edges.
Inside, it’s about 11,400 square feet across three levels plus a rooftop terrace. The main living area is double-height, wrapped in glass, and opens directly onto a long pool and deck that stretches across the back of the house. There’s a second elevated pool off the terrace, which leans more lounge than lap. The kitchen and dining areas are clean and minimal, anchored by stone and warm wood, while the rest of the interiors stick to a neutral palette.

Downstairs is where it shifts into full lifestyle mode. There’s a full gym, sauna, steam room, and a dedicated massage setup, plus a screening room and a Champagne bar that make it easy to treat the space like a private club. Upstairs, the primary suite opens onto its own terrace, with views back over the water and the course, and a bathroom finished in veined stone with a freestanding tub set near the glass.
Tech is baked in, too. Casa Bella uses facial recognition for entry, and a centralized system controls lighting, temperature, and entertainment throughout. All of it lands at a moment when Quinta do Lago inventory is tight, and buyers are still circling. The villa is asking 16.95 million euros, or about $19.5 million.
