Martha’s Vineyard has long been the summer playground of the rich and famous, including Carly Simon, Spike Lee, Larry David, and Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen. Before they bought a home there in 2019, the Obama family famously vacationed in a sprawling rented home in Chilimark, which hit the market last year for a cool $39 million, while Marc Brown, the creator of the animated series Arthur, and his wife, artist and author Laurene Krasny Brown, listed their getaway last year for $6.9 million.
