When it comes to the sport utility vehicle, its character arc has gone from a purely utilitarian—even militaristic—transport to a visual calling card of high-net-worth domesticity. An no model exemplifies this reinvention more than the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen. The storied German marque’s impressively capable S.U.V. has also become a canvas for automotive creativity in both aesthetics and performance, thanks largely to tuners such as Brabus.
Now, one example that epitomizes the duality of bling and brawn synonymous with Brabus, is available through online auction house SBX Cars. What makes it an even more compelling collectible is that it’s currently owned by Alex Hirschi, founder of SBX Cars and known the world over as Supercar Blondie.

The initial Geländewagen from Mercedes-Benz was born from a request by the Shah of Iran in the 1970s. The Persian ruler was looking for a better military vehicle, but the end result proved more suited to civilian adventures and was put in production in 1979 as the GW 460. It went on to prove its mettle by winning the 1983 Paris-Dakar Rally, piloted by the team of Jacky Ickx and Claude Brasseur. Interestingly, its nearly cube-like design—broken only by the addition of a hood—was a statement of stature that soon made the G-Wagen a status symbol conscripted far more for shopping sorties through Beverly Hills than anything tapping into its all-terrain acumen.

Alex Hirschi (aka Supercar Blondie) is the tour de force behind SB Media Group, which has a social media presence of more than 120 million followers and 2 billion views per month.

Just two years prior to the G-Wagen’s entry into production, Bod Buschmann launched Brabus in Germany. It was built on his love of the automobile and his entrepreneurial spirit, both fostered by his parents and their family car dealership devoted to the sale of, you guessed it, Mercedes-Benz vehicles. In its nearly 50 years of operation, Brabus has expanded into customizing supercars, boats, and even fine-tuning its own take on real estate development. Yet its work with Mercedes—especially the G-Wagen—remains a hallmark, as evidenced by its customization of this 2019 Mercedes-AMG G63.

The interior is a statement piece in Tiffany Blue.

The third facet comprising this example’s winning trifecta is the provenance bestowed upon it from being owned by Alex Hirschi. The visionary behind the Supercar Blondie persona, Hirschi has become a social media juggernaut, as well as a highly respected voice in the automotive industry. Robb Report showcased Hirschi in its 2024 Best of the Best issue, naming her as one of the nine individuals making a difference in the world of luxury, across categories, that year. Her SB Media Group is responsible for attracting more than 120 million followers and garnering 2 billion views per month.

Brabus has tuned this Mercedes-AMG G63’s twin-turbo V-8 to deliver 800 hp and 737 ft lbs of torque.

According to the SBX Cars lot description, this example was “Absolutely stacked with bespoke Brabus touches in 2022—from the massive vented hood to the incredible 23-inch wheels, carbon-fiber trim galore, and that killer Widestar setup—this is the G-Wagen turned up well past 11.” That Widestar treatment comprises, among other alterations noted on the Brabus website, “new fascia at the front and rear.” In addition, Brabus states that new “wheel arch flares add ten centimeters to the width of the vehicle body.”

Tiffany Blue and Silver dress the exterior in equal measure.

Most striking, though, is the work Brabus has done to the twin-turbo V-8 power plant, which has been enhanced to deliver 800 hp and 737 ft lbs of torque, as cited by SBX Cars. Yet, even more than the muscle, the first thing that will turn heads is the color combination of Tiffany Blue and Silver dressing the exterior in equal measure, with the former defining the cabin.
“A full Tiffany blue interior with a starlight headliner custom made by Brabus is still a rare sight to see. I absolutely love the color to this day,” says Hirschi. “The g800 has been the most amazing all-rounder. I can take it to a fancy dinner, then straight to the desert. It belongs beautifully in both settings.”

“I don’t want to sell this beauty, I would keep her if I could, but this is a new chapter of my life . . .” Hirschi tells Robb Report.

While this is a stunningly transformed G-Wagen, transformation is a primary reason Hirschi is parting ways with it—all part of discovering a new side of herself after she and her longtime husband have separated.
“I don’t want to sell this beauty, I would keep her if I could, but this is a new chapter of my life as a free single woman so it’s time to embrace something new!” she tells Robb Report. “Or, I might just get another g800 in other colors, because I love the car, haha.” SBX Cars will be accepting bids on this 2019 Mercedes-AMG G63 Brabus 800 Widestar, with 21,537 miles on it, for six more days.
