Ryan Gosling is showing off yet another TAG Heuer on the big screen. The Canadian actor can be spotted wearing the Connected Calibre E5 in Project Hail Mary. 

Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the upcoming sci-fi centers on biologist-turned-teacher Ryland Grace, who wakes up aboard a spaceship only to discover he is the sole survivor on a mission to save Earth. Grace, played by Gosling, wears the smartwatch throughout the film as he tries to stop a mysterious substance from killing the sun and wiping out humanity. It is one of his only remaining companions and becomes a constant presence in his journey. 

The timepiece itself features a lightweight titanium case, a high-tech OLED display, and a vivid red strap, making it perfectly in keeping with a spaceship environment governed by precision, data, and timing. In a way, the watch also reflects the spirit and themes of the movie, marrying tech and innovation with the deeply personal. It looks dead cool, too, with the titanium coated in black DLC and the bezel crafted in matte black ceramic. The production model on the TAG Heur website also comes with a black rubber strap, giving it even more of a stealthy, monochromatic feel. (You can pick one up for $2,450.)

Since becoming a TAG Heuer brand ambassador in 2021, Gosling has embarked on many cinematic endeavors with the Swiss watchmaker. In 2022, he wore a Carrera Three Hands in The Gray Man. A year later, the duo made a five-minute short in honor of the Carrera’s 60th anniversary. Perhaps most famously, Gosling rocked three vintage gold Carreras at once while playing Ken in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. The actor himself handpicked the decidedly glitzy trio from the archives to accentuate Ken’s bold persona and flashy style. 

Gosling seems genuinely interested in the watches, meaning the partnership feels authentic and the watch cameos not overly forced. He had never endorsed a brand or product before TAG Heuer, in fact. He also seamlessly integrates pieces into his personal wardrobe. At the London premiere of Project Hail Mary on Monday, Gosling sported the hot new Carrera Chronograph Seafarer.

Released during LVMH Watch Week in January, the piece was inspired by a historic Heuer Seafarer model conceived by former Abercrombie & Fitch president Walter Haynes and combines contemporary tech with a timeless vintage aesthetic. It paired excellently with Gosling’s retro-style striped AMIRI suit. This is likely one of several stellar TAG Heuers he’ll flex on the press tour, so keep your eyes peeled. 

Project Hail Mary will be released in theaters worldwide on March 20.
