This luxe alpine resort is bringing 1960 style back to the slopes.

Rosewood just officially opened its first winter resort in the French Alps, a chic chalet nestled in the Jardin Alpin neighborhood of the exclusive Courchevel 1850 village. The aptly named Courchevel Le Jardin Alpin calls back to the golden age of the winter enclave, when it transformed into a glamourous mountain playground for Brigitte Bardot, other A-listers, and royalty alike. The hotel will have you hitting the slopes like a star, too, thanks to its direct ski-in, ski-out access to Les Trois Vallées, the largest connected ski area in the world.

And you’ll be resting your head in one of Rosewood Courchevel Le Jardin Alpin’s 51 rooms and suite—including three private houses if you want a bit more seclusion. French designer Tristian Auer took the reins on the interiors, which he wanted to feel more like a personal chalet than a resort. And the result certainly mirrors that of a cozy mountain retreat, a modern take on your classic alpine escape. Each accommodation is clad in various woods and stones, and they also have their own private terrace to lounge about in that brisk alpine air and views of snow-capped peaks. Some suites even have bars made from Himalayan salt blocks, carved to mimic the surrounding range, that can be illuminated in a soft glow.

The standouts, though, are that trio of secluded abodes. A pair of two-bedroom penthouses each offer up hand-sculpted headboards made from concrete, done up in a stone-like affect to mirror natural rock. The first, Saluire House, offers up towering wooden cecilings and a roaring fireplace, as well as a smattering of warm hues and textures throughout, with a mirrored copper-colored art piece from Italian fashion designer Christian Pellizzari anchoring the space. Courchevel House, its sibling, shakes up that classic alpine design in its fireplace with ne clad in bush-hammered bluestone and tons of patinated brass. The biggest of the bunch is the Jardin Alpin Apartmenet, with four bedrooms that can sleep a total of eight guests. This accommodation also has its own elevator, a private movie theater, massive terraces, and a professional kitchen.

Art is a main part of the property’s public areas, too, which also pull from the surrounding slopes for its design cues. The façade, for one, is made from Vals quartzite, which is quarried right in the Swiss mountains, and upon stepping through the door (crafted from locally sourced wood), you’ll meet a pair of glittering crystalline installations dreamed up by Icelandic Danish artist Olafur Eliasson. Elsewhere, the Cigar Lounge takes its design cues from an inverted pinecone made up of copper, brought to life by Studio MTX, part of an atelier recognized by Chanel’s Métiers d’Art.

“We approached the project as though we were creating a private mansion chalet rather than a traditional hotel,” Auer, founder of his eponymous studio, said in a statement. “The idea was to capture the glamour of the mountains while transporting guests into another world—a place where every space invites them to experience and discover something beyond the expected.”

As for your après-ski, you’ll head to an expansive terrace overlooking the slopes, where you’ll dine on fondue, black truffle, and more alongside an open-air fire pit. The dining space, known as Salto (where chef Gioia Baek serves put dishes inspired by the Italian Alps), transforms from day to night, so whether you need a bit of bubbles in the morning or a night cap, it has you covered. And when you need to unwind even further after a day on the slopes, head to the Asaya spa on-site, which is made specifically for the post-mountain relaxation. Treatments include a Deep Alpine Massage and an Oxylight 3D Radiance Ceremony facial to bring a dose of radiance back into the skin; plus, you can take a dip in the sauna or swimming pool, with a glacier-inspired ceramic fresco as your backdrop.
