The Lamborghini LM002 — first shown as a production model in 1986 and built until 1993, with a total of 328 produced — is one of the most beloved cars in Lamborghini history and, indeed, one of the greatest SUVs of all time. A rare example is now up for grabs, with under 4,200 miles on the odometer.
The 1990 Lamborghini LM002 is painted white and has been the subject of extensive restoration. It is one of only 48 LM002s built for the American market, powered by a 5.2-liter V-12 engine making 450 horsepower.
“Completed on July 13, 1990, and delivered new on November 20 to Chrysler Italian Imports Inc. in New Jersey, it was part of a special two-car order that also included a Diablo, sold together for $382,210,” Curated’s auction listing notes. “Both vehicles were delivered in June 1991 to their original owner.”

That owner has kept the LM002 until now, and apparently didn’t drive it much, with just 6,676 kilometers on the odometer, or 4,148 miles. The engine, which was also used in the Countach, is mated to a five-speed manual transmission, and the interior is mostly red with some white.
The listing does not mention any obvious flaws, with a recently completed restoration and operational lighting; the original tonneau cover; regular fluid and belt changes; and power window, heating, and air conditioning controls that operate.
“The original three-spoke steering wheel and instrumentation are in similarly clean condition,” the listing says.
A price is not mentioned, but LM002s in great condition usually go for between $300,000 and $400,000, possibly more depending on the provenance and rarity, so it would not be a surprise to see this one priced in that range.
Whoever the next owner is will get a car that’s a lot more than a curiosity in Lamborghini history and one of the few cars with a nickname — the “Rambo Lambo” — that is both evocative and cool. The LM002 also paved the way for the Urus, among the first super SUVs and probably still the best among them, with apologies to the Ferrari Purosangue.
