It never hurts to shake things up from time to time.

Lunaz has just unveiled its 50^th build: a stunning Aston Martin DB6. It isn’t the U.K. shop’s first commission based on the elegant grand tourer, but it is the first that it has outfitted with a gas-powered engine. That’s right, the shop best known for turning British classics into EVs just built a car with an ICE powertrain.

The big story here—as it is, to some extent, with all Lunaz builds—is the powertrain. Up until now, the company would have replaced the coupe’s original 4.0-liter straight-six with a fixed platform specifically developed for classic Astons that includes electric motors and a battery pack. But here, the company has swapped out the old mill, which made 278 hp fresh from the factory, for a new, hand-built 5.0-liter six-cylinder that makes 345 hp. The engine isn’t the only mechanical upgrade, either. Lunaz says that every aspect of its suspension, braking, and steering systems has also been re-engineered to deliver a driving experience more in line with the expectations of today.

Lunaz has also restored the body and cabin of the GT. The curvaceous exterior is in a unique metallic green paint job accented by soft gold trim. Inside, you’ll find a silver switch gear, mother-of-pearl inlays, and seats covered in a mixture of cashmere-blend textiles, suede, and leather upholstery.

“The aim was to create the ultimate Aston Martin Restomod,” Lunaz founder David Lorenz told Robb Report over email. “Precision steering and active dampening suspension, paired with a new gearbox and fuel-injected 5-litre engine, transform the Aston. Power delivered with intent and the sound of the engine through a custom exhaust creates an addictive soundtrack.”

Lunaz’s rejuvenated, gas-powered DB6 won’t be a one-off either. The shop says its 50^th build also marks the start of a new “powertrain-agnostic” chapter. The company will continue to build British electromods but will also start taking on more traditional gas-powered commissions going forward. This car is the first of a “limited number” of First Edition DBs that will be built to celebrate the new approach.

No cost has been announced for Lunaz, but we imagine it won’t come cheap. The company previously told Robb Report that its revitalized classics can cost anywhere between $600,000 to well over $1 million.
