One of Polaris’s most capable side-by-sides just got even better.
The Minnesota-based off-roading company has just unveiled a range-topping version of the popular RZR Pro R called the Ultra Edition. The feature-packed variant is the first UTV to feature the brand’s new Dynamic DVS suspension system, giving it more adaptability and control than any Polaris before it.
The advanced suspension system, which the company describes as “groundbreaking,” turns the RZR Pro R into the kind of vehicle that can be taken anywhere with confidence. The racing-inspired setup is the first integrated system in the industry to feature electronically controlled hydraulic locking sway links, which were developed in collaboration with Suspension Direct Inc. This allows each wheel to move independently, absorbing particularly harsh terrain, with minimal body movement. This allows for a smooth and comfortable ride even over the craggiest of surfaces.

The sway bar links are also active in another industry first. The Ultra Edition has three selectable settings to take advantage of this feature: Semi-Active, which rapidly locks and unlocks the links based on changes in terrain; Locked, which delivers the kind of suspension performance expected from a traditional UTV; and Unlocked, which maximizes wheel articulation.
“By applying key learnings from our race program, we’ve introduced smarter suspension that delivers maximum articulation, for more control in any environment,” Polaris president Reid Wilson said in a statement.

The Ultra Edition has plenty to offer aside from its new suspension, though. It features the same 2.0-liter inline-four found in the Slingshot, which has been tuned to make an impressive 225 hp. The vehicle, which is available as a two- or four-seater, only comes in one color, Velocity Blue, and comes standard with an MPI racing steering wheel. The vehicle has a 74-inch track and rides on a massive set of knobby, 32-inch BFGoodrich KM3 all-terrain tires.
Are you already picturing yourself speeding over sand dunes in the desert this summer? The RZR Pro R Ultra Edition is up for sale now, and starts at $46,999 for the two-seat configuration and $50,999 for the four-seat configuration. If you do want the Dynamic DVS system, you may want to reach out to the brand sooner rather than later, though. The range-topper will be limited to just 500 examples—for now.
