Here’s one way to add some excitement to your next track day.

Shelby American has just unveiled its latest souped-up Ford Mustang, the GT350/TA. The company’s latest limited-edition build is a track-focused, but still street-legal, muscle car that packs a potent V-8 under its hood.

The new model is a celebration of 60 years of Trans-Am racing and is specifically aimed at those who like to spend their weekends at the track. The company’s fastback is based on the current version of one of Shelby’s most famous ‘Stangs, the GT350, but features a number of upgrades designed to help you shave time off your lap time during your next track day.

At the heart of the GT350/TA is a 5.0-liter supercharged V-8 connected to a high-flow, quad-pipe exhaust system. The brawny mill has received a special performance engine calibration and been equipped with the shop’s “extreme engine cooling package,” two changes that push output to a more than 830 hp, which is 20 hp more than the standard GT350. The engine is mated exclusively to a six-speed automatic as well, something that will please more than a few enthusiasts out there.

Shelby didn’t just rework the Mustang’s engine, though. The muscle car also comes equipped with a retuned suspension with more aggressive gear. This includes front and rear sway bars and a Trans-Am-spec rear shock absorber.

The upgrades aren’t just limited to the car’s mechanical hardware. The vehicle’s body has also be upgraded with an aluminum vented hood and a lightweight carbon-fiber aero kit. The package includes a completely new front splitter, side skirts, and a giant adjustable rear wing that is Trans-Am approved.  The car is available in six Shelby colors—Carbonized Gray, Grabber Blue, Orange Fury, Oxford White, Race Red, and Shadow Black—in addition to factory Ford colors and can be dressed up in a racing-style graphics package. Rounding things out is a set of Forgeline VX1S racing wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero racing tires.

Are you looking for a way to really stand out next time you’re at the track? Shelby is taking orders for the GT350/TA now. The shop plans to build just 70 examples, which will start at $219,995. That’s steep, but it’s also about $100,000 less than the Mustang GTD.
