Xyon’s Siloxysystem Gels Help Thinning Hair and Balding

Welcome to Robb Recommends, a regular series in which our editors and contributors endorse something they’ve tried and loved—and think will change your life for the better.

I do everything in my power to keep my hair, and to make it look thicker and fuller. Yes, including a hair transplant, but also to fortify the hairs that were native to the top of my head, so that I never have to get a second one, and to keep things looking as full as possible as long as possible.

And, although I’ve tried all the different oral and topical medical therapies out there, I am more than comfortable with picking a favorite go-to topical finasteride/dutasteride treatment: Xyon’s topical SiloxysSystem gels. I’ve been using this product for years, and I can attest that it works as well as advertised. Here’s why.

My best way of explaining SiloxysSystem is that it’s a slow-release gel treatment that absorbs into your scalp as you sleep. It’s silicone-based, so instead of evaporating quickly or spreading unpredictably (that is, dripping down your face, into your eyebrows, like other topical solutions), the gel forms a light, breathable layer that releases medication gradually over time.

I just apply it to a long part in my hair, as well as to any other patches of my scalp where I notice thinning, and allow it to dry. Its slow-release feature allows you to get the maximum benefit of your custom formulation (it’s available with finasteride, minoxidil, or dutasteride). Because it’s applied locally instead of ingested orally, there are fewer concerns about the nasty side effects some guys get from these medications. (Studies have shown that topical usage of these treatments yields far fewer sexual and wellness risks, for instance.)

Crucially, Xyon’s most powerful solutions are prescribed through an online medical consult, but the brand also offers shampoo and conditioner that you can purchase to stimulate follicles and give your hair visible fullness. It also makes a saw palmetto-, caffeine-, and peptide-powered scalp serum that stimulates circulation and thwarts the gathering of DHT (dihydrotestosterone) around the follicles, which the brand claims will offers a similar effect to finasteride and dutasteride.

What impresses me most, though, is the convenience factor. You don’t have to use extra product or worry about it dripping or drying too fast. The same system works for different formulas (compounds or standalone ingredients), so the routine stays simple, especially if you’re streamlining into a 2-in-1 compound with more than one active ingredient. You apply the gel once and move on with your day, which makes it much more likely that you’ll actually. And the best way to build any routine is to aim for consistency. Tongue-twistery as it may be, SiloxysSystem sets your strands up for success.
