Auctions can be a great way to score a prized yacht at a competitive price. That is certainly true of one upcoming sale in the UAE. 

G3 Auctions of Palm Beach, Florida, has teamed up with brokerage KJM Marine of Dubai to auction off two luxury vessels, with bids starting at substantially less than the respective listing prices. The auction house says it could be the first time that this type of sales event has taken place in Dubai, marking an incredible opportunity for seafarers in the area and beyond.

The auction stars include a 120-foot custom superyacht and an 85-foot flybridge motor yacht. Both are a little long in the tooth, but have been meticulously maintained, according to G3. The auction house also says they are also “packed with lavish features.”

Details on the 120-footer are scant as the seller has opted to keep most of the specifics confidential. We do know that it was delivered in 2002 by a European yard. It has a beam of 23 feet, resulting in a spacious interior that can accommodate 12 guests in four staterooms and five crew in three cabins. The decor does look a little dated—hey, a refit is an option—but the yacht is in “immaculate condition,” G3 says. It has a top speed of 28 knots, too, so you should be able to notch some nautical miles. The current asking price is $6.5 million, though bidding will start well below that during a 24-hour auction beginning November 4.

The 85-footer is a Raised Pilothouse (RPH) model built by Egyptian yard De Birs in 2013 and refit in 2017. Christened Serdal, the yacht can sleep eight guests and four crew in her 20-foot-wide living quarters. It is equipped with twin 1,500 hp MTUs that enable a cruising speed of 23 knots and a maximum speed of 25 knots. The flybridge is, of course, the selling point, with a cozy lounge and dining space. Serdal has an asking price of €2 million (approximately $2.3 million at the current exchange rate), but bidding will, again, start below that during a 24-hour auction on November 11.

Buying a completed vessel, of course, means owners can skip what can be notoriously long build times and bypass all the pesky decisions that come with crafting a cruiser from scratch. In this instance, buyers might also be able to snap up each yacht at a huge reduction.
