This New Canados Catamaran Can Soar Across Seas at Over 50 Knots

A speedy new power cat is prowling American waters.

Revolution Marine Group brand Canados just delivered the first Heritage 36 sport cruiser in the U.S. The model, which debuted at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show last year, showcases an innovative design that ensures both exhilarating performance and exceptional fuel efficiency.

Built in at the Canados shipyard in Rome, Italy, the 36-footer has been engineered to deliver a smooth, dry, and very quick ride in all ocean conditions. Her twin-hull configuration and optimized tunnel design together reduce drag while enhancing stability, resulting in impressive speeds and welcome fuel savings.

Powered by twin 300 hp Mercury outboard engines, the multihull can hit 52 knots at full tilt or cruise at 30 knots, but consumes on average 30 percent less fuel than most boats in its class. That means greater range (up to 600 nautical miles), lower operating costs, and increased sustainability—all of which are particularly valuable across the diverse cruising grounds of the Americas.

Canados Heritage 36 Hardtop Catamaran Bimini

This example features a hardtop bimini.

“The Heritage 36’ demonstrates how far modern power catamarans have evolved,” Darren Henn, vice president of sales at Revolution Marine Group, said in a statement. “By reducing drag through its twin-hull design, the boat achieves remarkable speed with less power, delivering 50-plus-knot performance alongside significantly improved fuel efficiency.”

This hardtop example can accommodate up to 16 passengers, with one cabin and a head below deck for overnight stays. Designed for entertaining, the cockpit is equipped with two large lounges and dual dining tables with two pull-out fridges integrated into the accompanying seating. Forward, there is another seating area with an awning providing shade. There is also a hardtop bimini for protection from the elements and a retractable passerelle/swim ladder for the times you actually want to get wet.

Canados describes the cat as “stylish and exceptionally well-appointed,” with the Italian craftsmanship giving it a high-end edge. The 36 is versatile, too, with the ability to serve as either a dayboat or tender.

In addition to the hardtop version, Canados offers an open configuration. The yard is also planning to create an enclosed version for colder climates and a dedicated fishing variant with a livewell, a fishing chair, and other gear for anglers. This will make the cat appealing to a wider range of regional markets. We should expect more to be prowling the seas soon, then.
