The One-of-a-Kind Porsche 911 Carrera T ‘Formosa’ Is an Ode to Taiwan

Porsche just unveiled its newest 911 Carrera—a stunning ode to the mountains of Taiwan, with a bespoke livery and interior for zooming the roads there in style.

The 911 Carrera T “Formosa” was unveiled earlier this month as a one-of-a-kind product of the marque’s Sonderwunsch program, which lets customers customize their cars virtually to their heart’s content. The resulting vehicle can legitimately be called one-of-a-kind, and is also “professionally realized” by Porsche, meaning that the car’s value in the secondary market should be a bit more protected and owners can say that their new ride was part of the original production run.

Porsche’s Sonderwunsch program has roots in the 1970s and, these days, fits in nicely with luxury automakers’ desires to be more bespoke, capitalizing on increased customer interest. In the case of the 911 Carerra T “Formosa,” the customized options start with the livery, which is painted in a blue inspired by the waters surrounding Taiwan. Porsche calls the color Ipanema Blue Metallic. The 20- and 21-inch wheels are Suzuka Grey Metallic, with Vanadium Grey Metallic in the rim bed.

On the inside, meanwhile, pops of brown appear (a shade called Truffle Brown, to be exact), along with black leather and stitches in Night Green. Unique to the car is a pattern called “Formosa,” which is found in the front trunk and parts of the seats. The word “Formosa” is found in the headrests, the door sill guard, and the front trunk, which are the kind of details the owner can show off at the pub.

Under the hood is a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine making 388 horsepower, just like other 911 Carrera Ts. Here, it is mated to a six-speed manual transmission, and the suspension has been stiffened a little for a sportier feel. That is ideal, Porsche says, for Taiwan’s roads.

“The 911 Carrera T ‘Formosa’ is a statement of individuality and a celebration of Taiwan,” Christian Nater, CEO of Porsche’s Taiwan division, said in a statement. “From the new checkered pattern to bespoke embossing, this vehicle showcases the breadth of the Sonderwunsch programme.”
