Almost 14 years ago, while he was still married to Miranda Kerr, Orlando Bloom picked up a lush, resort-like spread in the far western reaches of Malibu above El Matador State Beach. Since then, much has changed. Kerr, a former Victoria’s Secret model, went on to wed billionaire Snap CEO Evan Spiegel, and the English actor subsequently dated and became engaged to pop star Katy Perry, only to split with her last summer after nearly a decade together.

Now the Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean star is moving on once again, this time from the coastal retreat he acquired for $2.5 million in 2011. After an extensive and costly renovation of the 1970s pad, which included reconfiguring the bottom floor and adding an outdoor pool, he has decided to put the place on the market. The asking price is $12 million, with Chris Cortazzo of Compass holding the listing.

Sequestered on a private gated drive off Pacific Coast Highway, the modern four-bedroom, five-bathroom home offers roughly 4,200 square feet across two meandering levels. Open-plan interiors with a Japanese vibe boast a mix of hardwood and tile floors, high wood-beamed ceilings, and walls of glass. There are also colorful custom finishes and furnishings by artist and designer Roy McMakin that are available for purchase as part of the sale.

Standing out is a spacious sunken living room anchored by a stove-style fireplace. Up a few steps is a formal dining area, which adjoins an updated kitchen sporting sea foam green cabinetry, stone countertops, an eat-in butcher-block island, and a Wolf range. Steps on the other side lead down to a casual dining area and a family/media room with sliding glass doors spilling outside.

Completing the main level is a dedicated entertainment area with a wet bar, as well as a gym and powder and laundry rooms. One of two staircases leads to a sleeping loft with a planked wood ceiling, while the second one heads to three more bedrooms, including two primary suites with an expansive ocean-view balcony and vividly hued tiled baths with clawfoot soaking tubs.

A palm-laced backyard hosts several alfresco spots for lounging and hosting guests, along with a pool and spa, a fire feature, a bar, a half-bath, a hot tub, a barrel sauna, and even a secluded tub. In addition to a two-car garage where Bloom kept his collection of motorcycles, there’s an access-controlled flagstone and wood stairway to the beach below.

Bloom, who recently starred in the psychological boxing drama The Cut, told The Wall Street Journal he is selling the Malibu house because he hasn’t lived there for several years and has moved further north in California, though he declined to specify where. However, he and Perry did purchase a Montecito home together in 2024 for $15 million after a lengthy legal battle over the property with the elderly 1-800-Flowers founder Carl Westcott.
