The gasholders in London‘s King’s Cross were originally built in the 1850s to store the gas produced for public lighting and heating, but today, they serve a very different purpose. The trio of Grade II-listed structures was transformed into a luxury apartment complex in 2018, providing the city with 145 upscale residences steeped in history. At the pinnacle are two luxury penthouses that were unveiled just last year—one of which could now be yours.

Known as Skyward, the duplex is on the market for £6.97 million, or about $9.15 million at the current exchange rate. The sky-high, three-bedroom pad features 2,542 square feet of chic interiors by Johnson Naylor, a private rooftop terrace of 858 square feet, and balconies on both levels. That is quite a lot of square footage for the capital.

Set on the banks of Regent’s Canal, the Gasholders development itself is quite a marvel, with the cast-iron frames of the Victorian gasholders complemented by the greenery of a beautiful new park. WilkinsonEyre carried out the exterior design of all three towers, while Jonathan Tuckey Design executed the interiors.

At the top of Gasholder Number 10 (GH 10) lies Skyward. The lobby is centered around a sculptural staircase that provides access to all levels. Naylor’s interior was designed to create a “relaxed harmony,” according to press materials. Creamy beige and white walls run throughout, as do natural materials such as wood and veined stone.

London, responsible for styling the home, opted for textured furnishings and accent chairs in burnt orange or mustard to highlight the volume of the residence. “The gentle curve of the Regent’s Canal just below really shaped how we approached the project,” Lauren Lear, an associate design director at the studio, said in a statement. “It inspired the flow of the layout and brought a softness we wanted to echo inside.”

A double reception room allows residents to spread out, while the upper level’s kitchen and dining area is perfect for entertaining. Clever integrated lighting illuminates the Gagganeau and Miele appliances as well as the eight-seat dining table.

A skylight-topped staircase travels down to the lower level, where all three bedroom suites—including the primary—are located. It also leads up to the rooftop terrace with epic sunset vistas.

Residents will, of course, gain access to the complex’s amenities, including a spa with a hydro pool, steam room, sauna, and lounge, a gym and exercise studio, a games area with a pool table, a private dining room and adjoining chef’s kitchen, a 14-seat screening room for movie nights, and a Dan Peason Studio-designed roof garden. You can also expect a 24-hour concierge.
