Here’s What the New Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC Will Cost

We finally know how much the latest high-performance Ford Mustang will set you back.

Days after rumors started to circulate that the upcoming Dark Horse SC would carry a six-figure price tag, Ford has confirmed that the two-door will start at $108,485, reports Car and Driver. That means that the new model will cost significantly more than the beloved Shelby GT500 that it is replacing.

Late last week, Ford Muscle reported on a leaked dealer memo that had been posted online by Kelly Aiken of aftermarket suspension company KellTrac. That document showed that the Dark Horse SC would start at $103,490 or $108,485 after a $3,000 Gas Guzzler tax and $1,995 destination and delivery fees were applied. Any hope that Aiken’s information was wrong was dashed Monday, when Ford confirmed to Car and Driver and other outlets that the pricing info was accurate.

This price comes is nearly $28,000 more than the $80,795 that the Shelby GT500 started at in 2022, its last year on sale. Even when you adjust for inflation, which puts the cost for the discontinued model at closer to $93,500, the gap in prices is still considerable. It’s also important to note that $108,485 is truly just the starting price for the Dark Horse SC. The  Track Pack adds $36,500 and the Track Pack Special Edition $67,480, meaning the variant can cost up to $175,965, making it more expensive than the Porsche 911 Carrera 4S and slightly cheaper than the hybrid Carrera GTS.

Pricing for the Dark Horse SC may give some ‘Stang lovers reason for pause, but there will surely be some who see the increased cost as a necessary evil. That’s because the high-performance model comes with a supercharged 5.2-liter V-8, while the track packages will add upgrades like a bigger, adjustable rear wing, specially tuned dampers, carbon ceramic brakes, and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup R Tires. Ford has yet to say how powerful the new mill will be, but the car’s high price means the pressure will be on to deliver something special.

As expensive as the Dark Horse SC will be, it won’t be the most expensive model in the muscle car’s seventh-generation lineup. That distinction belongs to the Mustang GTD, which starts at $318,760. That beastly speed machine does make over 800 hp, though.
