Bluegame wants to give you the best of both large and small yachts.

The Sanlorenzo brand unveiled a new crossover on the opening day of this year’s Boot Düsseldorf that it says offers the volume of a superyacht and the flexibility of a smaller motor yacht.

The new BGX83 is the latest model in the Italian yard’s BGX series, which began in 2019 with the unveiling of the BGX73. Described by Bluegame as the “missing X,” the newcomer spans 83 feet, making it the flagship of the range. (The line includes the aforementioned 73 and a 63.) 

“This yacht embodies the full maturity of our crossover vision and the ultimate expression of the ‘X’ concept we first pioneered years ago,” Bluegame CEO Carla Demaria said in a statement. “With BGX83, we deliver a true superyacht experience in an 83-foot platform that combines radical design, extraordinary livability, and a deep, authentic connection with the sea.”

The 83 is the result of a three-part collaboration: Bluegame founder Luca Santella conceived the original crossover concept, Zuccon International Project designed the exterior, and Piero Lissoni created the interiors. The vessel shares the same elegant Italian aesthetic as her predecessors, but is larger, bolder, and more luxurious, according to Bluegame. Every defining element of the BGX range has been dialed up to 11. Her exterior is more daring than her two sisterships, with sharp, dynamic lines that run from the pointed bow to the cascading aft.

The layout has also been updated to create a seamless flow throughout and better connect guests with the sea. The upper salon, for example, features 360-degree panoramic glazing that invites the outdoor world in. The helm has also been moved to the flybridge to free up space in the living quarters. The interior exudes that timeless Italian style, thanks to a muted color palette and high-end materials like marble. There are four generous guest cabins in total, including a large owner’s suite which, of course, measures the full width of the 20-foot beam.

Heading outside, there are lounge spaces forward, aft, and up top on the flybridge. Speaking of the flybridge, the open-air helm station affords unmatched visibility for navigation. The deck can also be covered by a sleek hardtop for shelter against the elements. At the stern, meanwhile, the hydraulic platform is fitted with fold-out terraces that create an expansive beach area by the water. Who needs a superyacht?
