Atherton, California, a favorite residential enclave of business moguls and tech titans—it’s one of the wealthiest ZIP codes in the country—is prized for its expansive estates tucked into a peaceful, wooded setting within easy commuting distance to San Francisco and other Silicon Valley tech industry centers.
Last year, venture capitalist Marc Andreessen put a $33 million price tag on his longtime home in the 94027 (it sold earlier this year at $27 million), and just about a month later, former Google CEO Eric Schmidt did the same, putting his estate on the market for $24.5 million (it later sold for $22.5 million). Now, a 1.4-acre spread with a brand-new 17,000-square-foot contemporary mansion jampacked with luxe amenities has come to market with Joe Piazza at Coldwell Banker Realty for a whopping $49.9 million.

Plush red chairs offer comfy seating in the state-of-the-art home theater.
Beyond RE Marketing
Whether your hobbies lean toward health and wellness or movies and games, this place has something for everyone. One wing includes a spa set up with a Japanese soaking tub, a Finnish sauna, and a steam room. The home theater, with plush red leather cinema seating, is outfitted with a JBL sound system and Sony 4K laser projection for streaming your favorite films, while the lower-level club room is where you’ll find billiards and poker tables, plus a temperature-controlled wine cellar that can hold more than 500 bottles.
Outside, an aquarium-like glass-walled pool anchors the yard. The nearby cabana is heated for year-round use, also offering a space to lounge or chow down on burgers cooked in the outdoor kitchen. Farther out, the manicured lawn leads to a multi-sport court, equipped for tennis, pickleball, and basketball.

The wellness wing is decked out with a sauna, steam room, fitness center, and more.
Beyond RE Marketing
When you’ve tired yourself out enjoying all the home has to offer, there are plenty of cozy spaces for lying low. The main level of the three-story abode includes the formal living and dining rooms, framed by walls of glass and wide-plank white-oak floors. The open chef’s kitchen is paired with a casual dining setup and a family room that spills open to an outdoor patio.
Upstairs—accessible via an elevator or dual staircases—two massive primary suites include their own lounges and Italian marble bathrooms. There’s access to terraces as well, where you can sit around the fire pit and look out over the estate. In total, the home encompasses nine bedrooms and a dozen full bathrooms, with three powder rooms to boot. A detached guest house offers separate space for friends, family, or staff.
