Alex Da Kid’s Ultra-Bespoke L.A. Showpiece Lists for $85 Million

Back in 2012, Alexander Grant paid $4.1 million for a Mediterranean-style home set in the Bird Streets neighborhood of Hollywood Hills, just above the Sunset Strip. The British music producer, known professionally as Alex Da Kid, then razed the abode and built a sleek new mansion in its place. In 2020, he doled out $7.6 million to acquire the residence directly below to use as a guesthouse.

Now, some 13 years and several million dollars later, the entire spread has hit the market for a whopping $85 million. Aaron Kirman and Tomer Fridman of Christie’s International Real Estate Southern California share the listing.

Completed this year in collaboration with architect Paul McClean, the steel, glass, and limestone structure offers four bedrooms and seven baths in roughly 24,000 square feet across five levels decked out with knotty light oak floors, dark-stained rift oak and suede walls, and marble and limestone accents. Glitzy amenities include eight pools in various configurations, a sculptural staircase flanked by a digital art wall, a plush movie theater, an indoor half basketball court, a two-lane bowling alley, and a rooftop terrace with a retractable movie screen and sweeping city views.

Among the other highlights is an expansive double-height living room with a two-way fireplace and walls of glass opening to a pool terrace, plus a dining room and an eat-in kitchen alongside a family room. A primary suite on the mezzanine level flows out to an infinity-edge lap pool, while the bottommost floors host a hemlock-wrapped wellness area with a hot tub, a cold plunge, a sauna, a massage room, and a cryotherapy machine. There’s also a nightclub where guests can view autos from a 65-foot glass elevator and a set of stairs off a gym leading to the separate five-bedroom, 6,100-square-foot guesthouse.

Per The Wall Street Journal, Grant has decided to sell because his primary residence is now in Manhattan’s Soho neighborhood. The Grammy-nominated music producer, known for his collaborations with Imagine Dragons, Nicki Minaj, Eminem, and Rihanna, also conducts most of his business in New York, which is more accessible to his family in London. “My mum is getting older,” he said, “I want to be closer to her.”
