Perched along Mexico’s Pacific coast, One&Only Mandarina is widely regarded as one of the world’s best resorts. While most visitors experience it during a short getaway, there’s also the opportunity to make it a permanent escape with Villa 14, a private residence situated within the five-star coastal enclave.
The seven-bedroom home spanning around 10,000 square feet was designed by Rick Joy, a Smithsonian National Design Award winner and the architect behind Utah’s luxe Amangiri resort. Previously listed for $32 million, the luxe hideaway is now being offered at auction, with bidding starting April 15 and closing April 29. Concierge Auctions is leading the sale.

The primary suite has its own sitting area and spills open to a private terrace.

“This is a defining opportunity to acquire one of the most architecturally significant and visually commanding homes within One&Only Mandarina,” Chad Roffers, the CEO and co-founder of Concierge Auctions, said in a statement. Added Katia Robles, one of the listing agents, “Villa 14 captures the essence of Riviera Nayarit, where jungle, ocean, and architecture exist in complete harmony.”
Joy designed the abode as a set of Zen-inspired pavilions joined by open-air walkways, and he utilized materials like warm wood and natural stone to connect the homes to the natural surroundings. Massive windows and pocket doors frame the varied landscape, which ranges from the nearby Pacific Ocean to the Sierra Madre in the distance. A soaring wood ceiling tops the great room, and several of the bedrooms open to private terraces. The primary suite has its own sitting area and a tranquil bathroom with an onyx shower and a soaking tub.

The infinity-edge pool falls away into the surrounding greenery.

An infinity-edge pool anchors the outdoor living area, with plenty of loungers for basking in the sun. From the home’s clifftop perch, the water appears to spill into the Pacific below—though the blissfully private setting remains totally secure. Tropical landscaping melds effortlessly with the undisturbed vegetation enveloping the property, while a series of courtyards are tucked throughout the grounds, offering quiet nooks for relaxation.
Buying in to One&Only Mandarina also gives you access to the resort’s amenities. That means you can saddle up at the Mandarina Polo & Equestrian Club or test your swing at the nine-hole golf course designed by Greg Norman. Gourmands can chow down at a restaurant from Enrique Olvera, the chef behind Mexico City’s Pujol who’s helped define modern Mexican cuisine.
