A Rancho Mirage Compound With Reality TV and MLB Ties Heads to Auction

This Palm Springs–area estate hasn’t just played host to a rotating cast of sports and reality TV stars—it’s become something of a character in its own right.

Known as Chateau Dumont, the nearly five-acre compound in Rancho Mirage has amassed more cultural cachet per square foot than just about anything currently on the auction block. The Mediterranean-style estate has appeared in season three of Hulu’s breakout hit The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, boasts World Series champion Covelli Loyce “Coco” Crisp as a former owner, and even played the backdrop to an MLB wedding featured in People. Most recently, it has housed tennis pros competing at the BNP Paribas Open.

Now the roughly 18,000-square-foot spread is heading to auction, with bidding set to begin at $8 million ahead of a live sale on April 30—strategically timed to coincide with the popular Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals. It’s a fitting overlap: Chateau Dumont also served as the SLOMW cast’s home base during the annual country music festival. The listing is being handled by Scott Palermo and James Sanak at Harcourts Auctions.

Crisp—who won the 2007 World Series with the Boston Red Sox—purchased the property in 2013 for $7 million and put it back up for sale in 2016 with a roughly $9.5 million ask. Originally built in 2008, the home channels an Old World Mediterranean aesthetic characterized by wood-beamed ceilings, wrought-iron detailing, and stone fireplaces.

Set behind gates and approached by a sweeping motor court and porte-cochere, the residence unfolds as a series of entertaining spaces scaled for large gatherings. A dramatic, ballroom-sized great room anchors the layout, flanked by a custom bar, wine-tasting room, and formal dining lounge, while flexible areas can be reconfigured for events. Elsewhere, a screening room, a billiards lounge, and a chef’s kitchen with a separate prep space round out the interiors.

In total, the estate has 15 bedrooms and 13 bathrooms, including a detached two-bedroom guesthouse. The primary suite is more retreat than bedroom, complete with a sitting room, private office, wet bar, and a bathroom illuminated by a domed skylight with an indoor garden, sauna, and Roman-style soaking spa.

The grounds unfold like a private resort, centered on a grand terrace with a fountain overlooking a pool edged by cascading waterfalls. Beyond, multiple lakes, a view pavilion, and full-sized tennis, pickleball, and basketball courts stretch across the property. A natural-gas microturbine provides on-site power, while a private well irrigates the landscaping and replenishes the estate’s three lakes.
