Michael and Jenna Morton decided to decamp the chilly temps of Chicago for the sunny desert clime of Las Vegas back in 2003. They went on to dole out $1.25 million for a vacant lot in the exclusive double-gated Rimrock at The Ridges neighborhood of Summerlin and enlisted architect Richard Luke to create a curvaceous travertine-clad home bordering the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, about 15 minutes from the Strip.
“When I saw it for the first time, there were wild burros standing on the recently graded lot looking toward the mountains,” Jenna said in a press statement. “I knew I had found our place.” Added Michael, “We love the entire Las Vegas persona, but what visitors don’t always see is its stunning natural beauty. We embrace the Strip in our work and play, but arriving home to peaceful views, and enveloping privacy offers a wonderful balance.”

More than two decades later, the hospitality power couple is now putting their sprawling estate up for sale. The founders of the Morton Group, known for creating the successful dining and nightlife establishments La Cave Wine and Food Hideaway at the Wynn, One Steakhouse at Virgin Hotels, and CRUSH at MGM Grand, are looking to sell the nearly two-acre spread for $19.5 million. Kristen Routh-Silberman of Douglas Elliman holds the listing.
Completed in 2006, the cul-de-sac estate includes a main home and a guesthouse with a total of seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms across roughly 10,000 square feet of Aman-inspired living space. Two pools, including one with a mosaic-tiled 60-foot slide, along with a secluded spa, fireside conversation areas, a bar and kitchen setup, and several courtyards and terraces offer sweeping mountain views, while a circular motor court flows to a six-car garage.

Inside the primary dwelling is a living room sporting a reddish-brown fireplace stretching to the ceiling, a seated bar tucked in the corner, and a wall of collapsible glass doors spilling outside. A sleekly designed kitchen is outfitted with jade-hued countertops, dual islands, high-end Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances, and an accompanying breakfast nook. A formal dining room has a climatized wine cellar with color-changing Lucite pegs that can hold hundreds of bottles alongside a corkage table.
Elsewhere is a bookshelf-lined office next to a peaceful courtyard, a media room, and a gym, as well as a sumptuous primary suite featuring a separate lounge area with a kitchenette, dual closets, and a luxe bath spotlighted by a large soaking tub made from a boulder. Topping it all off is the guesthouse, which comes with a rooftop deck.

Michael comes by his hospitality genes honestly. He’s the son of the late Chicago restaurateur Arnold “Arnie” Morton, founder of Morton’s The Steakhouse, with more than 50 locations nationwide, and his brother, Peter Morton, cofounded the Hard Rock Cafe. Jenna, meanwhile, has a background in archaeology, having helped direct a project responsible for Jordan’s Umm Al-Jimāl UNESCO World Heritage site.
Though selling is bittersweet, the Mortons told The Wall Street Journal they want something smaller now that their three children are grown. The couple, who plan to build a more intimate version of their current home in Las Vegas, own another place in the seaside California town of Manhattan Beach.
