A Celebrity Designer Overhauled This $15M Farmhouse in the Hamptons

There’s a certain kind of Hamptons house that tries to do everything—and then there are the ones that actually pull it off. In the sleepy Water Mill area, a newly reimagined estate by Los Angeles-based designer Jake Arnold feels less like a weekend home and more like a self-contained boutique resort, where mornings can start in the garden and evenings wind down around a fire pit—all without ever leaving the grounds.

Arnold, who recently collaborated with John Legend and Chrissy Teigen on their Beverly Hills home, brings that same layered, highly livable sensibility here. The couple famously nudged the designer beyond his usual earthy minimalism, encouraging bolder, more playful touches—a shift that subtly carries through this East End retreat.

The roughly 8,000-square-foot main house is styled as a modern farmhouse. Though the fittings and finishes lean more polished than rustic, wide-plank oak floors, exposed beams, and a soft, tonal palette keep things grounded. Altogether, there are six bedrooms—including three generously scaled suites—and a total of six and a half baths, along with a lineup of creature comforts geared toward both relaxed downtime and lively entertaining. Think a gym, a private theater, and two custom marble bars that feel tailor-made for summer weekends.

A rear terrace on the upper floor adds a quietly high-tech touch: an automated louvered pergola opens and closes with the push of a button, while retractable screens make the space usable in virtually any weather—ideal for long, lingering outdoor dinners that stretch well past sunset.

The one-acre grounds unfold like a carefully curated itinerary. There’s a newly built Padel and multi-sport court, an organic garden paired with a string-lit dining area, and a tucked-away fire pit perfect for conversation and relaxation.

The pool house, meanwhile, feels less like an afterthought and more like a second act. With multiple lounge areas, two full baths, a kitchenette, and a covered patio anchored by a wood-burning fireplace, it’s designed for year-round comfort and effortless entertaining.

Completed in 2020 and recently refreshed by Brodson Construction in collaboration with Arnold, the estate is being offered for roughly $15 million with Susan Breitenbach of the Corcoran Group.
